Out with the kids

In the summer holidays, too, there are plenty of fun activities for children. In the Katwijk Library (Bibliotheek Katwijk), you can attend fun workshops all summer long, watch the best children's films and take part in a cool treasure hunt. The Kinder Schnipseljagd by Jola Tours is a route for children to get to know Katwijk in a fun way. 

Besides events and action activities, Katwijk, Rijnsburg and Valkenburg have plenty of fun playgrounds and nature reserves!

Katwijk is perfect for (water) sports! Learn to kite at Kiteschool Katwijk, for example! Or learn to surf at Surfschool Katwijk, where you will also regularly enjoy other fun activities on the beach and in the sea, such as beach volleyball, boxing clinics and expedition Robinson. Pay a visit to Aquasports Katwijk. Perfect for a day out with friends; banana sailing, wakeboarding, wave surfing, supping and more.

Brave the dunes on a mountain bike! ATB Katwijk organises clinics in one of the most beautiful mountain bike areas in the Netherlands. The beach, the vast dunes and forests are the perfect setting for an afternoon of spectacular mountain biking.

150 years artists' colony

Since 1873, Katwijk has been known as an artists' village where artists from all over the world come to capture the costumes, barges and coastline. Famous names like Jan Toorop, Willy Sluiter and Jan van Goyen have shown their painting skills here. 

Dozens of painters still come to Katwijk every year during 'Katwijk En Plein Air', in 2024 the week will take place from 29 June to 6 July. Their works will be on display in the DUNAatelier after this week until 22 September. The Katwijks Museum will display works by the founders of Katwijk's artist village.

Go shopping in Katwijk!

With the beautiful days approaching again, it's perfect for some shopping in Katwijk. In Katwijk aan Zee, you will find the nicest boutiques, children's shops and concept stores in Winkelhart Zeezijde. In Katwijk-Noord, you will find the indoor shopping centre Hoornes passage. It is open every day from 8:00 and offers 175 free parking spaces.

Shopping centre De Hoftuin is located in the centre of Rijnsburg and offers a wide and varied range of shops.

Of course, we can't forget the markets! Every Friday in Katwijk, the weekly market is open from 10:00 and every Tuesday in Rijnsburg from 13:00.

Katwijk has beautiful beach pavilions where you can sit down for a delicious dinner or a refreshing drink after a day at the beach. Here it is cosy from early morning until late at night. Start the day with a good breakfast, enjoy an extensive lunch, and have dinner or drinks overlooking the sea!
