150 years artists' colony

Since 1873, Katwijk has been known as an artists' village where artists from all over the world come to capture the traditional costumes, boats, and coastline. Renowned names such as Jan Toorop, Willy Sluiter, and Jan van Goyen have showcased their painting skills here.

Every year, dozens of painters still come to Katwijk during 'Katwijk En Plein Air'. Their works are exhibited in the DUNAatelier. The exhibition 'La Bohème' at the Katwijks Museum showcases the works of the founders of the artists' village Katwijk.

With the beautiful days ahead, it's perfect to enjoy some cozy shopping in Katwijk. The shopping center "in de Hoftuin" is located in the center of Rijnsburg. Here, you'll find a diverse range of shops.

In Katwijk, you have the Hoornse Passage, which is open every day from 8:00 am. But, of course, we can't forget about the markets that are open every Friday in Katwijk from 10:00 am and every Tuesday in Rijnsburg from 1:00 pm.
