The "La Bohème" exhibition features paintings by the four Dutch artist friends from their Paris period.

Young Dutch artists in Paris in search of inspiration, love and happiness, 'la Vie de Bohème'.

In the summer of 1873, painters Artz and Kaemmerer visited the fishing village of Katwijk to recover from the Parisian frenzy and the fierce Franco-German war. Their stay in Katwijk aan Zee together with French artist Alphonse Stengelin, who was already staying in Katwijk, would mark the start of Katwijk as an artists' village.
